Adblock (DNS filtering) lists
This page contains 2 tables of the standard Adblock/DNS filtering lists that can be used in current FreshTomato versions. The top list contains frequently updated lists, while the bottom list contains outdated block lists and lists that have not been updated in a long time.
When choosing a list, make sure to pay attention to the list size, older routers with less RAM will not be able to support large lists, for those routers medium and small lists exist. By default the maximum size is equivalent to roughly 6% of router's RAM. So a 256Mb of RAM on a router such as R7000 will allow up to ~16 Megabytes to be used. This value can be overwritten in the settings; however it may lead to instability. If you need more allocation you can attempt to plug in a flash drive and use it as storage. In this case default allocation is 10%. This means that with a flash drive a 256Mb router will have roughly 25 Megabytes to use for ad lists.
Choose your lists carefully, being mindful of resource utilization. Often, less is more. Use the list(s) which contain the things you wish to filter rather than a “kitchen sink” approach. This can reduce resource usage and increase filtering speed.
The name of each list also contains a link to its website. There, you can learn who maintains it, the criteria for blocked content, and (possibly) how to propose additions/alterations to it if you find it is allowing content to pass which contradicts its goals.
Valid sources must conform to the format of a standard system hosts file.
